Twins Lena and Elias Schäfer can hardly believe it: On a school trip to the legendary Nürburgring, they stumble upon a sinister secret. Night after night, mysterious ghost fires appear on the racetrack, which no one can explain. When the press gets wind of this, the upcoming 24-hour race is in danger of being canceled. Together with their cheeky companion Pikrit and their loyal friend Phillip, the siblings set out to find the truth. But the deeper they dig, the more dangerous it becomes. Who or what is really behind the ghostly apparitions? And what is the story behind the strange knight's shield that suddenly appears in the Nürburgring tower?
